I love Zagreb. I really do. The city is so vibrant of history and culture. My stay was inspiring mostly because of the translators, poets, writers and publishers I met. It really stirred my creativity and during my residency I solved a big literary question that I had been struggling with for my next novel and wrote a synopsis for a new book about reconciliation. It was really uplifting to present my novel Stakleni dječak to a Croatian audience and meet the translator Lana Momirski and publisher Josip Ivanovic that made it all possible. The apartment was wonderful and I quickly felt like home with Erika as an excellent host. Learning about the history of Zagreb and Croatia has created a special connection that I will carry with me. I just want to finish my new novel so I can come back!
